JPG to SVG Converter
Upload a JPG or JPEG and BitmapToSVG traces it into a scalable SVG in under 20 seconds, with EPS and PDF included. JPG works best for flat graphics and logos; for photographs, results vary — so preview for free and only pay $4.99 if you are satisfied.
How JPG differs from PNG for vectorizing
JPG is built for photos, and that shapes how it vectorizes. Two things matter:
- No transparency — JPG has no alpha channel, so a solid background comes baked into the image. Our AI can remove it, but the input starts flat.
- Compression artifacts — JPG uses lossy compression that adds subtle noise around edges, which can show up as extra paths in the vector.
Which JPGs convert well — and which do not
- Flat graphics, logos, and icons saved as JPG — convert cleanly
- High-resolution images with sharp, well-defined edges — good
- Detailed illustrations — usable, but expect more paths
- Photographs of people, scenes, or textures — not what vectorization is for; results will be rough
What you get
- SVG — scalable vector for web and design tools
- EPS — for print and Adobe Illustrator
- PDF — universal and print-ready
- Accepted input: PNG, JPG, or WEBP up to 20MB
Honest limits
- JPG quality depends heavily on the source — a clean, sharp JPG vectorizes far better than a compressed or busy one
- Photographic JPGs create many paths and will not look "perfect" — always preview first
- We remove the background with AI, but heavy noise near edges can carry through
- Paid tool: preview free, download $4.99, no subscription
Frequently asked questions
Does converting JPG to SVG reduce quality?
It changes the format entirely — from pixels to vector paths. Flat graphics come out crisp and scalable. Detailed or photographic JPGs produce many paths and may look rougher, so preview the result before paying.
Can I vectorize a photo saved as JPG?
You can try, but vectorization is designed for flat graphics and logos, not photographs. A photo will produce a complex, imperfect result — preview it free to judge for yourself.
Will the converted SVG have a transparent background?
JPG has no transparency of its own, but our AI removes the background during conversion, so the resulting SVG can sit on any colour.
Is JPG or PNG better as input?
For graphics that need transparency, PNG is the better starting point. For a flat JPG logo, results are comparable. Either way, the tool accepts both.
